Plato and Aristotle VS Democracy

Platos writing talks about four different forms of government ; the first being timocracy, second being oligarchy, third being democracy, and the last one being tyranny. All which have their good and bad but are written in an order of best and worst. In timocracy there are very defined structures but are run by very honorable people that understand the structures to be fir the better of society. In Oligarchy also has structure but is run by a person with a personal motive that is often seen as reasonable. In democracy there is a structure but it is run by someone with personal motives that are unnecessary that don't take into consideration the better of society. Lastly, tyranny lacks structure and is run by the same unnecessary personal motives that do not have society's best interest. In his article we see the unappealing view of democracy, and we see get an idea for the type of people who would be in support of it. With this perspective that Plato gives, I see my own government through a different lens. Which have allowed me to see why certain candidates run in the way they do, speaking specially about the way they target certain groups when they have access to them.

Along with this, Aristotle also had his very defined views of democracy and the importantly negative effects that it can have on society. although his preferred form of government was a monarch based on merit rather than blood he did have a lot to say on why. democracy is not ideal. His main point being that it was not monitored or strutted around law, rather around the majority of peoples law. that in itself makes this governmental system untrustworthy and defective. It's defective and flawed because the people may not always make the best decision even as a collective. A time in witch this can happen is when the majority ruled to kill a child by the name. of Emmitt Til, not on anything supported by law but by the ignorance and hatred that lived in the racist people during his time. It is because democracy can be manipulated in the favor of who ever is in charge is the reason it is not a trustworthy system. This can be seen today, a perfect example is the simple fact that we live in a capitalistic country that benefits without the fear of law and morality. This impacts candadits by sometimes only attracting candidates with agendas that do not have society's best interest.
