Module 6
in your blog post this week, discuss three topic areas debated by the vice-presidential candidates… choose the three topics of greatest interest or importance to you. Did you find the candidates’ statements about the topic satisfying? Why or why not? Did you find their statements in general credible? How do you think an undecided voter might assess the debate?
1. One topic that interested me during this debate was in regards to taxes. During the Trump administration there were tax cuts that made it so that people who made a lot of money did not have to pay as much in taxes, according to Kamala Harris this only benefited the wealthy. As a result her and the Biden administration have said that that they will get ride of those tax cuts, and increase taxes on those who make more that 40 thousand a year. It seemed ridiculous when they talked about this because the argument was between raising taxes to help the nations economy or leave them as such which allows for the wealthy to be wealthier and the lower classes to have a heavy load to pay. But neither of them talked about people who did not fall in the categories of rich or poor, the ignored talking about the middle classes, which means that its either all or nothing in regards to takes since they both seem to be on extreme ends.
2. They also talked a bit about the vaccine for the corona virus, and where basically having a pissing contest. Kamala said that if the Trump administration campout with one she wouldn't take it, but that if her and Biden with the help of her scientists came out with one she'd take it. But that in itself seems to be ridiculous because she is saying that she does not trust the administration (which no one really does) and is creating a window for people to feel like their government does not have their back during a pandemic. Not only this but during this time Pence, is saying that the Biden team is only coping the reforms that the trump administration has come up with in order to fight this problem. Like of the person who is running for Vice President doesn't trust her own government, why should the rest of the American people? And if its true that Biden is copying his plans from other people, the what happens when he is the one in charge and has no one to copy from?
3. They also talked about packing the courts, in regards to the seat that just opened up in the Supreme Court. And while I do not agree with Trump, I know for a fact that if the tables were turned that they would fill the seat as soon as they could before they run the rick of not coming back.
This whole debate was as redicoulis as the last, where they just answered the questions they felt were okay to answer. Most times I found myself telling them (my computer screen) but you didn't answer the question. All Kamala did was fear monger, and attack the Trump administration, which is valid but unprofessional and lacks the level of professionalism and diplomacy that the american people deserve.
